Try out the Irish Sport of Hurling

Thursday 12th and Friday 13th June 2025

Hurling is one of Ireland's most popular sports and is known as the fastest field game in the world. Hurling is one of the oldest field games in the world and has been played for at least 3000 years in Ireland, with the first literary reference dating back to 1272 BC.

The sport is similar in some ways to hockey, except the ball spends very little time on the ground. See this video for a taster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ-TOK2FiI4

After you grab your lunch on Thursday or Friday, join us on the Killashee Rugby Pitch at 1.10pm for a hurling demonstration where you will learn some basic skills. All welcome!
